OHOV members have been travelling across Scotland and to lots of different settings, speaking to groups of children and young people about what they need from the adults who support them. The findings of this peer research will form a guide which helps adults from all professions go beyond the surface and meet the needs of all children in or on the edges of care.
As part of this research, the young people at OHOV wanted to make sure they kept those children and themselves safe, empowered and in control of what they shared. Together, we learned about what it takes to be trauma-informed, and we wrote a guide for adults about what this means when they are engaging with children. This is in our words and gives examples of how to do this in practice.
We want our lived expertise to be shared, so please make use of the guide and give us feedback on how you found it by contacting Gordon Main on gordon.main@scra.gov.uk.
