Young people from across Scotland came together for the second time for Our Hearings, Our Voice’s latest event.

‘Our Hearings, Our Voice Gets Going Day’ was held on Saturday 9 February at the Studio in Glasgow city centre. It was a great venue for our second event and the mini-sliders and fresh cookies went down a treat!

The young board members were joined by young advisors who are supporting Our Hearings, Our Voice, as well as the Our Hearings, Our Voice events team.

Young advisor Ciara, said: “We had a really good 2nd event and we’re becoming a cosy wee group.  The venue was pretty cool and the young people came up with some brilliant ideas for the OHOV Logo.  I wouldn’t like to be the designer putting them all together!  I’m really excited to see which one we all chose as the winner.”

The young board members who came from the Islands to Ayrshire took part in a series of activities. They took part in a number of team building sessions, including the polo challenge and the ‘Hearing Things’ game.

After lunch, the young people also worked on agreements for Our Hearings, Our Voice and the key themes which came out from the session were: respect, trust, honesty and communication.

They also had the chance to get creative and design a logo for Our Hearings, Our Voice.

Jacqui Dunbar from Our Hearings, Our Voice said: “The young people came up with some fantastic ideas for the new logo and I can’t wait to see which one they choose as the final design. We will now get a designer to work up their designs and the young people will vote on their logo of choice and we look forward to launching it when it’s ready!”

Once the logo is designed, Our Hearings, Our Voice will have some of its own merchandising goodies and the young people also got the chance to choose some options. Hoodies, water bottles and badges came out tops.

The young people will now take part in two training events in March and we look forward to sharing more with you about that in the coming weeks.
