What an exciting week this is! For three years now, Our Hearings, Our Voice has been supercharged by the commitment, lived experience, altruism and brain power of the same hearings-experienced board members. What a job they have done, establishing a trauma-informed space for the voice of children in the hearings system, directly influencing practice and policy making and setting all of us in the right direction to Keeping the Promise in the children’s hearings system through their incredible 40 Calls to Action.
Now those young people will be joined by new recruits – some young people currently involved in the Hearings System and in care. We are so excited to include them in their first board meeting this Saturday, where they will be joined by Sheriff David Mackie, Chair of the Hearings System Working Group, and Christina Spicer from The Promise Scotland Team.
As well as beginning to integrate and make friends amongst the other board members, they will have the opportunity to continue our work on re-design of the children’s hearings system. They will also be joined by another new face, Amy Miskimmin-Logan, who joins OHOV as a Participation Development Worker (you will hear from Amy soon). Welcome on board everyone, it’s going to be an exciting and productive journey!
